More than 3,000 students from 25 nations will compete in teams with self-designed and self-built racing cars at the tradition-steeped racetrack. Until 20 August, the 100 registered racing teams, 72 of them in the e-class, will try to convince the international jury. For the last time, classic four-stroke engines are also permitted at the annual event.

The racing crews are supported by vehicle manufacturers, suppliers and technology partners such as IAV, in particular with financial resources and know-how. IAV is once again taking part as one of the main sponsors, supporting a total of 14 teams, including "munichmotorsport" from HS Munich, "FaSTTUBe" from TU Berlin and the "Bodensee Racing Team" from HTWG Konstanz.

FSG as a networking forum and technology showcase

For IAV, Formula Student Germany (FSG) offers valuable insights into current technology concepts as well as the opportunity to woo talented and suitable young professionals and to promote itself as an attractive employer.

"As a company, we can directly address the people there who, for example, are well versed in HV systems and want to work in the field of new technologies one day," says Dominik Erchinger, HV system commissioning engineer at IAV and juror at FSG 2023 in the Battery & Drive Systems area.

"At the same time, we learn about new and creative approaches to e-vehicles there, especially since university research teams have different approaches than OEMs. Such impulses are highly interesting for our own expertise," says Erchinger, who is participating in the event as a team mentor and juror for IAV.
